Chez Lombard is a good setting off point for the many interesting places around.

Some of the prettiest villages are Villebois –Lavalette, Aubeterre (with its amazing monolithic church), Brantome, Bourdeilles and St Jean de Cole.

It is not far to famous wine tasting areas of Bordeaux and the distilleries of Cognac.

There are small caves at Queroy, Villars and larger ones at Les Eyzies and Lascaux.

Isle de Re and Isle d’Oleron are super islands to visit, as are the towns of La Rochelle and Royan. There are also good beaches around here.

Chateaux within easy reach are Villebois-Lavalette, Puyguilhem, Bourdeilles, Mareuil, Rochefoucauld

Local fetes and cultural activities take place throughout the summer months in most local areas. The night markets and farmers’ markets are becoming very popular also.
